Direct Approach is a former Law Enforcement/ Military Veteran Owned and Operated from a hands on approach. Co-Owners Steve Rosta and Brandon Cruz are current commissioned Police Officers and retired State Troopers from the Ohio State Patrol Special Response Team who worked in command positions, for numerous years on the Divisions full-time Tactical Unit until retirement. Both individuals have an extensive background in policing operations with emphasis on Special Weapons and Tactics, excelling in the roles and rank they were positioned in giving DASS real world experience with over a combined 55+ years.

All their current officers are former and retired law enforcement officer and former military personnel. This month we are featuring Eric Stuckert, our Operations Manager for the Cleveland and Toledo offices. Eric has been with Citywide Solutions for 4 years and his hard work is key to our success!

Eric was the first technician at the Mentor office when Citywide Solutions expanded 4 years ago. He’s worked his way up through the company to become the Cleveland Operations Manager and a great leader within the company.

He was born and raised in Mentor, Ohio and attended Lake Catholic High School, same as Citywide owners Mike Tominc and Marty Loncar (although he claims to be younger, and cooler!). Father of 2 beautiful children and happily married to Megan, Eric’s work life has been filled with different experiences. From Bartender to DirecTV Specialized Installation Technician, he excels in customer service and technical skills.

“I was completely new to the parking, security and camera world when I started working here, but I was a great troubleshooter and learned to work on the fly with all the equipment that we still install today. Citywide Solutions has created a special company culture, I love working for Marty and Mike…They took me in as family 4 years ago and I have not looked back since!”

Eric is a great communicator and his customer service motto is to always go above and beyond. He says bartending not only helped develop his people’s skills but also taught him how to multitask. At Citywide, he wears multiple hats and handles the relations for Toledo and Cleveland daily. He handles shipping and receiving, all repairs and RMAs, as well as all the install and service tickets for both offices.

“The main thing I do is to make sure the techs know where they are going next and what’s coming as far as installs and service. At the end of the day, they are the ones on the field making this great company happen every day. We would be nothing without each and everyone of them. I just try to lead and set them up for success on every job.”

Citywide Solutions Donates Security Film to Secure Hillel’s Building at Ohio University

Citywide Solutions, Inc. helped Hillel at Ohio University secure their campus building with security film after owner Mike Tominc found about their safety concerns. “I am honored to assist the OU Hillel to demonstrate my commitment to fighting terrorism and violence,” Tominc said.

“It is easy to take one’s safety for granted when you live in a rural university community town like Athens,” said Fred Weiner, interim director of Hillel at Ohio University in Athens. But, as journalist Tami Kamin Meyer stated in her article “Columbus business owner helps OU Hillel improve security”, nowhere in the United States is immune to crime and acts of anti-Semitism.

Mentor Invests in Citywide Solutions Headquarters Project

The city of Mentor continues efforts to boost businesses from around the block and around the world. City Council this month awarded grants to the community’s largest industrial project in more than a decade.

This week, Council agreed to assist a development on the other end of the spectrum. Council on Jan. 17 approved a one-time $10,000 Economic Development Grant to Citywide Solutions, Inc.

The company, which has offices in Concord Township and Dublin, Ohio, specializes in the design and installation of video surveillance systems, access controls, intrusion detection, gate automation and parking revenue control equipment. The business purchased a 5,000-square-foot building at 6801 Hopkins Road in Mentor to establish as its corporate headquarters, sales office and service/distribution facility. The expansion is necessary because of continued business growth, company officials say.

Citywide Solutions did $4.1 million in annual sales last year, up from $861,000 in 2014.

“They have done very well in terms of their business model,” said Ronald M. Traub, Mentor’s Economic & Community Development director. “They have enjoyed significant growth from being a rather small business.”

The company will invest $250,000 in purchasing the Hopkins property and make an additional $40,000 investment in building upgrades. Eleven employees will be moved to Mentor, along with a payroll of $512,000. Company officials anticipate increasing staff to 19 employees by 2019 with an annual payroll of $700,000. The grant will assist with costs associated with the move and to upgrade the new location.

On Jan. 3, the city awarded a $10,000 Economic Development Grant to global manufacturer De Nora Tech’s $31 million project, including a 130,000-square-foot building off of Tyler Boulevard. The grant will go toward expenses associated with a sewer capacity fee and a fire booster pump that will serve the new building.

De Nora Tech — a subsidiary of Milan, Italy-based De Nora — also received a Mentor Incentive Grant equal to half its annual payroll taxes from 2019 to 2029. As of February 2016, De Nora Tech maintained a payroll of about $7.5 million and employed 144.

The city’s grants are funded by nontax revenue sources in the general fund, such as charges for services at the Mentor Lagoons Marina, Black Brook Golf Course, Mentor Civic Arena, registration fees, etc.
